The Raypak P-R206A-EP-X delivers a reliable 206,000 BTU output using an advanced digital electronic ignition system. Designed to provide efficient heat-up times for smaller residential pools, above-ground pools, and standalone spas, this liquid propane heater is specifically upgraded to handle aggressive water chemistry in areas where natural gas is unavailable.

The 014950 model is equipped with a professional-grade Cupro-Nickel heat exchanger, making it the perfect choice for pools utilizing salt-chlorine generators. It combines legendary mechanical reliability with modern, intuitive controls, ensuring your backyard oasis stays warm year after year without taking up massive amounts of space on your equipment pad.

Features

Professional-Grade Cupro-Nickel Heat Exchanger: Constructed from a premium copper-nickel alloy, this heat exchanger is built to withstand the erosion and corrosion common in saltwater pools. It offers a significantly longer service life than standard copper under aggressive water conditions.

Microprocessor-Controlled Thermostat: The intuitive digital display allows you to set your pool and spa temperatures independently to within one degree. The system also features constant self-diagnostics to alert you to any operational issues, making troubleshooting fast and simple.

Reliable Electronic Ignition: Features a robust spark-to-pilot ignition system that only lights when there is a call for heat. For propane users, this eliminates the fuel waste of a standing pilot light and ensures the heater remains functional even in high-wind conditions.

PolyFlo Integrated Bypass: Raypak’s patented bypass design balances the water flow through the heat exchanger automatically. This prevents condensation and scale buildup, protecting the heater's internal components from premature wear.

ProTek Shield Technology: Includes a specialized, replaceable module designed to protect the heat exchanger from the damaging effects of galvanic corrosion (electrolysis), providing a critical second layer of defense for saltwater pool systems.

Non-Corrosive Cabinet Construction: The heater is housed in a polyester-coated, galvanized steel cabinet built to resist rust and UV fading. Its wind-resistant design ensures the burner stays functional even in exposed or coastal outdoor environments.

Notes

Professional Setup Required: As a propane-fueled unit, this heater requires precise gas line sizing and correct regulator pressure from your propane tank. To ensure safety and validate the manufacturer’s warranty, it must be installed by a licensed HVAC or pool professional. Adequate venting and clearance are critical for safe and efficient operation.

What will it cost to heat your pool?

Fuel and electricity prices vary a lot by region, so put in your own rate from your last bill and get a number that's actually yours.

1 · Your pool
Water now 68°F
Temperature you want 84°F

You need to raise the water 16 degrees

2 · Your heater & rate
Set at the factory — you buy the version matching the fuel you have.
Figured at 82% efficiency, the rating on Raypak Digital heaters.
Use the all-in rate from your gas bill, including delivery charges.

And what about month to month?

Warming the pool up is a one-off. Most of what you'll actually spend is holding that temperature — replacing the heat your pool loses to the air, day and night.

Average outdoor temperature 65°F

Day and night averaged together, for the month you're picturing.

Per month — no cover

$0.00

Keeping a solar cover on saves roughly $0.00 a month here — most of a heated pool's heat leaves by evaporation off an open surface, so a cover is the cheapest thing you can do to bring this figure down.

Warm-up figures are the physics with no heat loss. Your pool loses heat to evaporation, wind and cool air the whole time the heater runs, so those numbers are a floor, not a forecast. The real-world line adds a typical 25–50%.

Monthly figures are an estimate, and a rough one. They assume you hold your target around the clock for 30 days. Real heat loss swings a long way with wind, humidity and how much sun your pool gets — an exposed, windy yard can run well above these numbers and a sheltered sunny one below. Treat them as a ballpark for comparing options, not a quote.

Warm-up uses gallons × 8.34 × degrees of rise. Monthly uses an estimated heat loss across your pool's surface area against the temperature difference with the air, at 82% thermal efficiency for gas. Pool presets assume 4 ft of water in a 52" wall and 3.5 ft in a 48" wall. Estimates only. Not sure of your pool volume or which heater fits? Get in touch.
