The high-performance choice for commercial and saltwater environments. The Raypak Professional Series (Model B-R408-EN-X) is an elite, industrial-grade heater specifically engineered for high-demand applications like hotels, schools, community pools, and high-end saltwater residential projects. Delivering a powerful 406,000 BTU output (often rated at 399,000 BTU for energy compliance), this heater is ASME certified, meeting the rigorous safety and pressure vessel standards required by commercial building codes across the country.

The 013731 model is built to survive where others fail, featuring a premium Cupro-Nickel heat exchanger and Bronze Headers to withstand aggressive water chemistry and coastal salt air.

Features

Professional-Grade Cupro-Nickel Heat Exchanger: Constructed with a heavy-duty copper-nickel alloy, this heat exchanger is built to withstand the erosion and corrosion common in saltwater pools and high-use commercial facilities. It is significantly more durable than standard copper, ensuring a much longer lifespan under constant operation.

ASME Certified Bronze Headers: To meet commercial code requirements, this model features rugged bronze headers. Bronze is naturally resistant to corrosion and provides the structural strength needed to handle high-pressure commercial plumbing systems, unlike standard polymer headers.

Intelligent Digital Control System: The microprocessor-controlled thermostat allows for precise temperature management and features a constant self-diagnostic readout. It is fully compatible with most modern remote automation systems, giving you total control over your heating schedule.

ProTek Shield Technology: This unit includes Raypak's specialized ProTek Shield module, designed to take the brunt of galvanic corrosion (electrolysis). This replaceable module protects the heat exchanger's integrity, a critical feature for saltwater pool systems.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction: Spares no expense on longevity, utilizing stainless steel for the burner tray, flue collector, and internal components. This ensures the heater's internal structure remains rust-free and functional even in harsh coastal environments.

Unitherm Governor & High Flow Rates: Features a built-in Unitherm Governor to regulate water temperature and prevent condensation and "sooting." The unit is designed to handle high-flow commercial pumps up to 125 GPM with an integrated automatic bypass.

Non-Corrosive Cabinet Design: Housed in a polyester-coated, galvanized steel cabinet that is both UV-resistant and weather-proof. Its wind-resistant design ensures the pilot and burner remain functional in exposed outdoor or rooftop installations.

Notes

Commercial Compliance: This Professional Series ASME model is specifically designed to meet commercial safety codes. Due to its weight (approx. 274 lbs) and high gas demand, it must be installed by a licensed professional to ensure proper gas line sizing and venting, which is critical for maintaining the 3-year commercial warranty.

Raypak Digital Heater Highlights

Heat Exchanger

Our Digital Gas Pool and Spa Heater includes various application options based on fin tube materials including: copper and cupronickel, both available as ASME1.

Digital Controls

Equipped with an intelligent control system that can easily be tied into an existing remote system, our heater also features a microprocessor-controlled thermostat for setting the perfect temperature for your pool or spa.

Flexible Installation

Whether upgrading your existing system or adding a new pool or spa to your home, the Raypak Digital Gas Pool and Spa Heater offers you flexible installation solutions.

Bonus: The self-adjusting burner compensates for gas pressure fluctuations, ensuring that the heater will always burn clean and safe.

What will it cost to heat your pool?

Fuel and electricity prices vary a lot by region, so put in your own rate from your last bill and get a number that's actually yours.

1 · Your pool
Water now 68°F
Temperature you want 84°F

You need to raise the water 16 degrees

2 · Your heater & rate
Set at the factory — you buy the version matching the fuel you have.
Figured at 82% efficiency, the rating on Raypak Digital heaters.
Use the all-in rate from your gas bill, including delivery charges.

And what about month to month?

Warming the pool up is a one-off. Most of what you'll actually spend is holding that temperature — replacing the heat your pool loses to the air, day and night.

Average outdoor temperature 65°F

Day and night averaged together, for the month you're picturing.

Per month — no cover

Keeping a solar cover on saves roughly $0.00 a month here — most of a heated pool's heat leaves by evaporation off an open surface, so a cover is the cheapest thing you can do to bring this figure down.

Warm-up figures are the physics with no heat loss. Your pool loses heat to evaporation, wind and cool air the whole time the heater runs, so those numbers are a floor, not a forecast. The real-world line adds a typical 25–50%.

Monthly figures are an estimate, and a rough one. They assume you hold your target around the clock for 30 days. Real heat loss swings a long way with wind, humidity and how much sun your pool gets — an exposed, windy yard can run well above these numbers and a sheltered sunny one below. Treat them as a ballpark for comparing options, not a quote.

Warm-up uses gallons × 8.34 × degrees of rise. Monthly uses an estimated heat loss across your pool's surface area against the temperature difference with the air, at 82% thermal efficiency for gas. Pool presets assume 4 ft of water in a 52" wall and 3.5 ft in a 48" wall. Estimates only. Not sure of your pool volume or which heater fits? Get in touch.
